Introducing the Hybrid Agent Preview Series
On April 9, 2019, Microsoft released the second preview of the Hybrid Agent as part of the Office 365 Hybrid Configuration Wizard (HCW). To provide our Practical readers and watchers with further insights on the Hybrid Agent Preview, I’ve created some demos to showcase the new features. So, stay tuned over the coming weeks for the latest updates.
Part One
In part one of the Hybrid Agent Preview series, I demonstrate how to install the Hybrid Agent by running the HCW. In this video, you will see the full installation process and how to verify that the Hybrid Agent is installed correctly. Please note, as we’re working with preview software, the agent, as well as the install steps, may change.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel to stay up to date with our most recent Office 365 videos.
After completing the HCW with the new installed agent, if we re-run the HCW, will that agent be shown in the registered agent list?
Hi Kun,
Yes, the Agent will Show up in the list.
Best,
Sigi
Is the Hybrid Agent a good way to migrate an existing on-premises Exchange to O365 Exchange (in addition to AD Sync)? To move mailboxes and leave both two systems working during migration phase.
Yes, absolutely! The Hybrid Agent is the easiest way to migrate your mailboxes to the cloud as it does not have as many requirements as a “Full Hybrid Deployment” in the classic way. For example, you do not require a 3rd party certificate to publish your EWS/OWA to the Internet.
Depending on the time it takes you to migrate to Exchange Online, you might decide between a Quick Migration or a coexistence using the Hybrid Agent.
