In part five of the Hybrid Agent preview series, I’ll show you how to upgrade your Hybrid Agent Preview to the final version of Hybrid Agent which was officially released on 1 July 2019.

Of course, if you do a fresh install of the Hybrid Agent using the Hybrid Configuration Wizard, you don’t need to consider this as the HCW will always install the latest version of the Hybrid Agent.

In this demo, I’ll show you the following upgrade steps:

  1. Stop the Microsoft Hybrid Service
  2. Use Msiexec /x MSHybridService.msi from Windows command prompt to uninstall the Hybrid Agent Preview
  3. Download the latest Hybrid Agent Installer from
  4. Double-click on MSHybridService.msi to install it

Any suggestion where I can look to determine why the agent does not install? The installer gets to a point where it asks for O365 credentials. After providing Global Admin O365 credentials, the installer rolls back and exits with no indication as to what might be the problem.

Maybe I have answered my own question. In Event Viewer -> Application Log, where source is “Microsoft Hybrid Service”. In my case “Make sure your computer is able to connect to the Azure Active Directory Application Proxy service”

Is it possible to have hybrid configurations so we can use our Exchange online mailboxes and keep them synced in the same time with our On-premise servers to send, receive and access them locally without internet connection in case of disconnection from our ISP

      Hi Salah,

No, this is not possibel. If you want that, you must move the Mailbox to your on-premises Exchange Server in order to Connect when Internet is not available. Hybrid is not a “either/or” approach, sending/receiving email requires your Exchange Server or Exchange Online to be accessible.

      Does this solve your Question?
