Last year I ran my annual reader survey for Exchange Server Pro. One of the points that stood out in the responses was the strong demand for more PowerShell-related content.

  • 75% of you are supporting more than 250 seats. Automation is good for any size organization, but above 250 you definitely can’t be doing everything manually.
  • Some of you asked for PowerShell tips/tricks to be included in the newsletter.
  • 99% of you (yes, literally) are “Very Interested” or “Interested” in learning more PowerShell.
  • 60% of you are Help Desk, Systems Administrator, or Systems Engineer, roles that can benefit greatly from PowerShell and automation.

In addition to the survey data, there’s a consistent trend in comments and emails that I receive, with a large percentage asking for help with PowerShell commands or scripts.

So let’s try something new this year. I’m going to do my best to answer your Exchange and Office 365 PowerShell-related questions on a regular basis. At this stage I am thinking that a weekly Q&A column will do the job, but obviously that all depends on whether the questions are coming in or not.

I’ve set up a new section of my contact form specifically for PowerShell Q&A, and will also try and collect more of the comments that show up on various articles so that I can respond to those as well. There’s a few guidelines on the contact form about things you should consider trying before you send me your question. I want to help, but I don’t want to end up just doing people’s jobs for them because they don’t want to do it themselves.

Hopefully we can find the right balance, and make this a useful addition to the community.

    Hi,

I am finding difficulty in reading the .oft file from a folder location through commands and draft multiple emails.

    Requirements:
The email body template should be the same, and few required fields needs to be changed i.e like sending the reminder email to multiple groups with different TO fields.

    Thank you in Advance

    Hi,

Possible to share the script for AD log.

    i.e.
When I create new user then, the new user created notification has been send to administrator via email.

Has I am working with CRO we have required the log details of user creation and revocation.

    Thanks
