On the first of this week’s Practical 365 TEC specials, I’m joined by a trio of Microsoft MVPs and fellow Practical 365 authors – Tony Redmond, Michel de Rooij, and of course Paul Robichaux.
Dark Corners of Microsoft 365 You Can’t Ignore
Tony Redmond will be speaking at TEC on a crucial topic: as an IT admin, what do you need to know about behind the scenes in Microsoft 365 so you don’t get caught up? Beyond the documentation, there are aspects of Microsoft 365 that can seem a little unloved and even broken. On the show, Tony gives us a taste of what he’ll be going into detail in his session and what you’ll learn.
Triple PowerShell Fun at TEC
Tony, Michel, Paul, and I discuss the PowerShell Script-Off at TEC, hosted by my co-host, Rich Dean. Tony talks through the challenge, which of course will be set on the day, but is expected to be automating a useful, everyday task in Microsoft 365. We discuss how it went last year, and how to help overcome those moments standing on stage when your mind goes blank contestants can bring a friend or colleague (phone a friend style) for a little help when the bright lights of the stage are on you. Michel talked about judging the show last time round and how enjoyable it was.
We discussed Michel’s upcoming session – PowerShell Scripting: From snippets to scripts to automation, and how using AI coding assistants can be useful when writing scripts. Tony wrote about GitHub Copilot a few weeks ago and we discussed his and Michel’s experience using these tools day-to-day.
Finally, we discuss what else to expect if you arrive early for TEC – other than great food in Dallas. Michel and Jaap Wesselius will be hosting one of several pre-conference workshops on nothing other than PowerShell, which is a zero-to-hero PowerShell 101-style workshop.
Next Time on the Show
You won’t have to wait long until the next episode as this week we’re doing the double – Paul Thurrott will be joining me in Season 4, Episode 27 for a fun-packed discussion about Windows and your future in a Copilot-assisted world.
