Microsoft has announced the re-release of Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 2. This re-release has been deemed necessary due to the public folder permissions bug that was discovered after the release of CU2 a few weeks ago.

From the Microsoft Exchange Team blog:

On July 12th, we announced that Exchange Server 2013 RTM CU2 contained an issue that could result in the loss of public folder permissions when the public folder mailbox is moved between Exchange 2013 databases. Initially, we indicated that an IU would be available to resolve this issue, however, after receiving your feedback, we decided to generate a new build of Exchange 2013 RTM CU2 that includes the fix for the issue.

The new build number of Exchange 2013 RTM CU2 is 15.0.712.24.

Installing the Updated CU2

If you have already deployed CU2 to your Exchange 2013 servers you will need to download the new CU2 version and apply it to those servers. The process is the same as with any other CU deployment. This is an unfortunate situation for those that have already deployed CU2, however it is necessary so that future security updates can be applied to your servers when necessary.

You can download the new build here.

If you have not already deployed CU2 make sure you only deploy the new build. The old version has been removed from the Microsoft Download Center, and if you had already downloaded the first build of CU2 I recommend you delete those files to avoid someone accidentally using them to update your servers.
