From the Microsoft Exchange Team blog:

Today we reached an important milestone in the development of the new Exchange.

Moments ago, the Exchange engineering team signed off on the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build. This milestone means the coding and testing phase of the project is complete and we are now focused on releasing the new Exchange via multiple distribution channels to our business customers. General availability is planned for the first quarter of 2013.

Between now and the general availability target of Q1 2013 there are a few other milestones:

  • New capabilities will begin appearing in Office 365 Enterprise from November
  • Volume license customers will be able to download the RTM bits in mid-November
  • TechNet/MSDN subscribers can also expect to gain access to the RTM bits in mid-November.

Congratulations to the Microsoft Exchange team. I’m excited to begin working more with Exchange Server 2013 in the coming months.
